Here are two Open Letters from students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) to the Ondo State Government and Vice Chancellor of AAUA regarding the N25,000 demanded as reparation fee.
AAUA reparation fee
OPEN LETTER TO AAUA VC PROF. AJIBEFUN
REDUCTION OF REPARATION FEE
Dear Sir,
I write this not as a student, but as a prodigal son who left his father’s house and after realizing his wrong decision, came back to beg for forgiveness, of which the father accepted him and even celebrated his return.
Daddy, I as a person is totally against the violence which led to the destruction of properties within and outside the School environment, it is totally uncalled for. Sir, however, you elders in Yoruba proverb say “ti aba na omo pelu owo otun, afi tosi famora pada” that is, if we beat a child with right hand, we draw him closer with left hand, this reparation fee of N25, 000.00 is too much at this time of economy especially in our citadel that is dominated by Ondo Civil Servants workers who are still owed, moreso, students who finance themselves and whose workplace lies around the school environment.
Sir, you will remember how students begged for School fees payment extension, if Students who begged for extension of a cheap school fees, Sir, getting N25, 000 at stipulated time of 7days is a Mount Everest I doubt which many can climb.
If you recall Sir, the Student Union President said the protest was hijacked by some ‘miscreants’ whom were no longer students and felt they should unleash their anger towards the decision the School melted out on them, Sir I would also like to call your attention that 90% of AAUAITES are not involved in this violent protest. We students of course are aware that we would pay for damages, but not up to this amount sir.
I appreciate your effort and hardwork since the riot occurred, however sir, tamper mercy with justice, we plea to you and the management that the fee be reduced as many parent are stranded and financially handicap at this moment. Sir, as a caring father, please consider the innocent people whom were even injured in the protest they did not even participate.
Finally Sir, we’re in total support of appropriate punishment to whoever that is found guilty of this violent protest which has disrupt our academic calendar, as such Students should not be tolerated in a 21st century university properly called.
Once again sir, we ask for nothing but mercy from you and the board of senate so as to reduce the burden on we innocent students.
God bless you sir, God bless AAUA, God bless Ondo State.
Yours faithfully,
Ogbeni Hercules

OPEN LETTER TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE
His Excellency,
Dr. Olusegun Mimiko,
Executive Governor of Ondo state,
Governor’s Office
State Secretariat,
Ondo state.

Your Excellency,
TOTAL REDUCTION OF THE ADEKUNLE AJASIN UNIVERSITY, AKUNGBA-AKOKO REPARATION FEE.
With high sense of humility, I bring to you a solidarity greeting from the whole Ondo state students.
I am also using this medium to commend you for the good work you have been doing in our state.
I write to you today regarding your intention of the reparation fee the Adekunle Ajasin University students are to pay, a huge sum of twenty-five thousand naira(#25, 000) exclusive bank charges.
Sir, that is a huge sum of money compare to the economical crisis the country is into now.
A student whose parent are civil servants, how on earth would they afford that when you haven’t even pay their salary up to date?
Not every state is that financially buoyant now not to even made mention of paying their workers up to date, so how will they afford to pay the fee after they must have fought tooth and nail to pay their school fees.
On this note sir, i write this to you to please reduce the fee totally so as for the students to pay on time and continue their examinations.
We expected our problems to be your worries just because you are a man with a caring heart and concern at all time.
I hope and wish you see this not as mere letter from a critic but from a concern chief servant like you who care for the masses.
Thanks and God bless.
Yours in Struggle,
Comr. (Engr.) Atolusi Damilola Anthony,
